6 Fall Home Decor Trends of 2022

Fall is here, with leaves starting to turn, cool winds blowing, and that home decorating itch that comes for many homeowners during the changing of the seasons. With endless styling options to use in your home, we’ve compiled a list of six fall home decor trends that interior designers are using in 2022.

Vintage chair and piano in a room with plants and a mirror

Vintage Touches - Nothing says warm and cozy in the fall like beautiful, aged pieces of furniture, many of which have darker, more distressed finishes that pair perfectly with this time of year. Looking to stay on trend with your vintage finds? Mid-Century Modern has made a strong comeback in 2022!

Wicker chair with brown pillows

Lots of Texture - Think woven fabrics, wicker, knits, and more! Items from stools to throw pillows with strong textures help break up a clean, sleek look and make spaces feel more warm and inviting.

Bedroom with white pillars and drapes, white wood desk and chair, and plant

Coastal Grandmother Style - While this trend may not be autumn-specific, now is the time to embrace the aesthetic if you haven’t already! What is Coastal Grandmother? Think clean, beachy colors with just a touch of warmth and elegant style. Try whites, tonal neutral pairings, and areas of texture or organic materials like wood to bring the look home.

Table set up with checker table cloth, plates, napkins, candles, and a white vase with dried wheat and pinecones

Fall Bouquets - Fall doesn’t need to mean just pumpkins and gourds decorating your table or mantlepiece. Consider making a fall floral centerpiece instead. Instead of flashy summer blooms, use dried flowers and grasses to make beautifully muted fall tones.

Bed with white sheets, a grey headboard, and colorful pillows on top. The bed is flanked with two lamps

Pops of Color - Not everything needs to be a gentle, tonal palette, however. Go for a warm, rich pop of color to enliven the space. Earthy greens, burgundy, and even mustard yellow can pair with the neutrals you may already have through the room.

Front steps flanked with pumpkins, fall leaves, and dried corn stalks

Exterior Design - While the interior of your home is where you likely spend the most time during these cooler months, don’t overlook the entrance of your home as an excellent place to add a splash of seasonal decorating. Arrange crates, lanterns, and pumpkins, gourds, and other fall favorites on your front porch or walkway. Use colors that complement the colors around you, from the siding on your home to the neighboring trees and stonework you may have nearby.

There are so many decor choices for fall that it may be hard not to choose them all! Consider looking for one or two places in each room where you can draw warm, earthy, autumnal elements into your space that will enhance the careful interior designing that you already have. Then sit back, sip your glass of apple cider, light a spiced candle, and enjoy the oncoming season.
