Proud to Support Mary’s Place Refugee Outreach

The Second Annual Mary’s Place Gala is scheduled to take place February 9th, 2017 at the Italian American Community Center in Gates.

Several Faber Homes team members are excited to be on the Gala Committee. Leading the way is Faber Homes CEO Bernie Iacovangelo as Gala Co-Chair with Carla Palumbo.

As the son of two Italian immigrants Bernie is no stranger to the struggles that come with starting a new life in a new country. “My parents would always tell me ‘there’s no place like America’ and this always stuck with me. I have been lucky enough to live my ‘American Dream’ and now it is my turn to help others live theirs.”

Mary’s Place Refugee Outreach

Founded in 2009, Mary’s Place is a non-profit refugee outreach center operating primarily in the Maplewood/Edgerton neighborhoods of Rochester, NY. Their mission is to reach out in love, hope, and service to refugees of all faiths and nationalities.
Mary’s Place has grown significantly since its simple roots as a coat distributor. As more needs in the refugee community become apparent, Mary’s Place is trying to keep pace

Programs & More Offered by Mary’s Place

• Daily clothing distribution
• Weekly food distributions
• English as a second language classes
• After school tutoring
• Case management services
• Translations for immigration forms
• And much more

Second Annual Mary’s Place Gala

As the number of programs grows along with demand, funding becomes increasingly crucial. The success of the Second Annual Mary’s Place Gala will have a significant impact on operations throughout 2017.
Last year, the First Annual Mary’s Place Gala was successful. The money raised helped keep programs running throughout the year. This year, with reserves tapped, there is even more pressure to have a remarkable event. With your help, it will happen!
The gala will include dinner and silent auctions. Theme baskets and more will be offered at the silent auction, and winning bidders will be announced during dinner. On top of this there will be plenty of opportunities for socializing.

“We may have ended up here from all over the world; Burma, Bhutan, Nepal, Somalia, Democratic Republic of Congo, and Sudan. Just to name a few countries. But at Mary’s Place, we are a family.”

- Carla Palumbo
